Rescued! I couldn't think of a nicer birthday present

See this little fellow? Cute isn't he. He is a nine week old Australian Shepherd, and he is the luckiest puppy in the world tonight.

My sister's fiance (G) went to visit their new house today to, amongst other things, negotiate the sale of a cow, and found the owners about to put this pup down. You see they breed Australian Shepherds and this little fellow was one of a litter they had. Of all the pups, three were born with tails, (him included), and the rest were born without tails. Tails are not a desired feature for show dogs, and so they tried to sell all the pups that had tails (sold as pets) but this little fellow didn't sell, and they couldn't be bothered continuing to try to find him a home, so they decided to just put him down. Effectively just to get rid of him.

So G took him immediately and brought him home. They are going to keep him and give him a good home. Their other dogs (a pair of German Shepherds and a shitzu\maltese) have totally taken to him already. The female Shepherd even tolerated him trying to drink off her (even though she has no milk). She happily watched him eat tonight, and when he came over and ate out of her bowl, she stood back and just watched him. i think she will protect him as if she was his real Mum.

I cannot believe people would do that. He is adorable. He is so intelligent, so cute, so loving. All he wants to do is snuggle and give lots of licks. I think he is just so sweet.

So he sure is one lucky pup today.

We tried to trick Hubbs tonight, and when we turned up at their place to go to dinner, they presented us with the pup and said "happy Birthday". Hubbs was speechless. he wasn't sure if they were serious or not. hehe. He was very relieved to find out we were not taking him home - 2 dogs and 2 cats (and all the fish) are quite enough for him.

We had a lovely dinner out tonight - and I even got to eat a banana on my birthday (for those of you overseas who think that is strange that I would be excited by that - Bananas are a rarity here at the moment because of hurricane damage up the top end of Australia, and they currently sell from between $10 and $12 a kilogram. (so 2-3 bananas cost about $5-$6).

It was a very nice birthday and I did get spoilt. Thank you so much for all your birthday wishes. They are greatly appreciated.

Belated Birthday wishes.

Hope you had a good one.

I agree on the banana issue as I had a banana split for dessert last night for the 1st time since the huricane and it was beau-u-ti-ful.

I got 2 banana for $3.03 which wasn't too bad.
