the first purchases!

Posting quickly while it is not raining - (when it rains it cuts off our internet and phones) . Yesterday Hubbs and I went looking at baby cradles. We had our eye on the Boori matilda cradle and after seeing it in pictures we wanted to actually see it in the showroom and touch and feel it etc., before we purchased it.

So we went to "a popular store that I hadn't heard good things about but was close by", and we looked at the Boori matilda cradle - and we really didn't like it. maybe it was the way the display one was put together or something, but they had two on display and both were clunky and just did nothing for us. Then we saw another cradle - the Eurella 2 in 1 cradle/crib and after deliberating about it for ages, (and going back to the matilda to confirm we really didn't like it), we purchased the Eurella one. The cradle has a smooth gliding motion that is very safe, untippable (we tried), and has a good locking pin. It felt lovely and solid and also converts to a crib should I still find it hard to get bubs in and out of (being under 5ft tall myself). It is the same internal size as the Boori matilda which is a large cradle - larger than most - meaning bubs can be in there until around 6months (depending how hefty bubs gets). It isn't as big as a cot - but it means we have more time to get a cot and we can easily move this cradle to another room if we want to.

As an added bonus - we bought the floor stock one (which has one minor chip in it but otherwise looks fine), and instead of paying $349 - we paid $199. For a total of $270 we also got the mattress, a very pretty sheet set, and 2 mattress protectors. They also gave me a gift bag for baby with a bunch of samples, a rattle and a teddy bear amongst brochures and pertinent info. They also gave me a discount card for 5% off any other purchases I make (and they took 5% off the price of everything I bought as well)

This is what it looks like: (but we got it in white). What is hard to see in the pictures is that it isn't a swing cradle (pivoting around a central point) but the whole base is on a gliding track that gently moves from side to side (no pivot). This also makes it very safe as it can't be tipped over and with the locking pin in, it doesn't have any movement at all.

It is very exciting. I just hope the pile of white pieces in the other room is something hubbs remembers how to put together again!
