The incredible nappies from Mari
Look at these! This is the incredible collection of fitted nappies that Mari sent me. She has asked for nothing for them, but I will be pressuring her to let me give her something for them as these are superb quality (not that I expect anything else from Mari) and they would not have been cheap. I hope she lets me reimburse her in some way.
Thank you Mari!
Oh and to answer a question I have been asked:
Am I going to find out the sex of this baby?
Nope! We made the decision that being IVF there has not been many surprises in this journey for us, so we would keep the sex of the baby a secret (even from us). What sealed our decision was someone asking "Have you always dreamed of the birth scene where someone says "It's a boy" or "It's a girl" ?" and to be honest we have been dreaming of that. i know that even if we know the sex the exact moment is going to be incredible but it is just one of those things we feel isn't right for us right now. (of course the temptation was there!)
Best hint ever: A friend at work said "don't be tempted to buy colored cloth nappies (the plain square ones) - they are cute but you can't bleach them to clean them"
I just also want to say "thank so you much for sharing this journey with me. I love that I can share this time with you all. I love that people are coming out of the woodwork and telling me that they have been following my journey. I am nothing special but I feel blessed that I have been able to share this all with you - it helps us all feel like we are not alone. Too many people go through what i have and worse. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone, but if we can be in this together we can get through it together!
ok better go - looks like rain. Take care all and have a great day!

I had some of those when Shell was a baby..got them from a second hand shop they were in good condition..I gave them to a friend who didnt even thank me for them (and stopped talking to me altogether after the baby was born, after getting as much freebies out of me as possible)...
hate to tell you but if things are still the same as they were when I had my girls they arent meant to tell you the sex of the baby when its born, you are meant to look yourself. some rubbish about people wanting to see for themselves and getting upset about being told before even seeing their baby. neither of my midwives told me the sex of my girls, i had to look myself....(funny thing was Rachelle had been born 5 minutes before it even crossed my mind to see if she was a girl or a boy!!)..

Bugsy,
The fitted nappies are fantastic, its great to see that you have great friends out there,
In regards to the coloured nappies, if you napisan them and hang them out to dry in the sun they dont need bleaching, the napisan kills all the germs anyway, also the coloured ones are great for burping, they look nicer than the plain white ones.

Oh wow Bugsy, Mari certainly did spoil you with those nappies, they look fantastic...
You might have to start a list of other things you may be needing...

Hi Bugsy
To the soaking of nappies and the coloured ones, there are some great websites out there like thenappylady.com and allaboutnappies.com which give some great information about cloth nappies. From here, I found that you don't need to soak your nappies in Napisan to clean them. I drypail my nappies and then wash them on a 60 degree cycle which sanitizes them as well as Napisan does. As one of your readers pointed out, hanging them on the line in the sun will get the stains out of them. I avoid Napisan for environmental reasons, and use a frontloading washing machine to use less water.
Good luck!
Jane
Like Katt said in her comment, the midwife wasn't meant to tell us what gender our children have been. And when DS2 was born it was a good 10 minutes before I even thought to check what was between the baby's legs LOL!
The nappies are fantastic, what a wonderful friend Mari must be! I use Beehinds (amongst others) and they are brilliant nappies, just don't ever use bleach or napisan on them, it will kill the elastic - annoyingly I speak from experience!! I dry pail and then sun dry them - the sun is the best bleaching and disinfecting product you can get.
To the gender thing, a friend of mine was initially told that she had a boy and then the anaesthetist asked if the nurse was sure, and on checking, was then told she actually had a girl so I can understand why medical staff are not supposed to disclose the news!
Now I'm very embarrassed!!!
Mate you have done ME a favour by taking them off my hands!!
I bought those nappies with the full intention of using them, but Jordan being so small they were just too big and I was just too lazy.
Jordan and I just hope that you get full use out of them!
Oh and regarding soaking...I didn't need to soak those nappies I sent you, (i did use then for a few weeks). The best thing we purchased was a toilet squirt (I can't remember the correct name), anyway it is a hose attached to the toilet and with a spray nozzle on it, with dirty nappies you simply spray to poo down the loo.
But it is advised NOT to soak nappies with elastic in them, so I used the Preen stain remover spray on the dirty stains...and as you can see they washed up really good!
Hi Bugsy- those nappies look great! Does this mean you are not going to use disposables? (Good on you!=)) Time sure has flown since you found out you were expecting! Won't be long before you are holding your baby!! Is this the longest you've been pregnant for? Take care!=)
Wow, lucky lady you are... I know that you appreciate them too. What a great friend you have Bugs..
Ho'w the weather down there? or is it over there? I can never get those directions right. I used those sort of nappies on A.J. wow, that was a long time ago now.
Hugs and have a good one.
Luv Lesley
Just popping in to see how everything's going from Tassie.
Long time no blog on my part.
Glad to see everything's still going well for you and wriggles.
Those fitted nappies are fantastic to use.
Just had a look over at Betty's blog and she's also had a hard time of it and now she has a little baby girl (under a month old) after a lot of trying.
The link to Betty's blog's on mine.
Stay well and look after the bump.
Cathy
Hey thanks for the link Cathy... here I am after a long long absence.
Hey Bugsy everything is going very well for you. I am so glad and your pregnant belly is looking fabulous. I have some of those fitted nappies but have been too scared to try them yet because baby girl seems so small. Need to get the hang of handling her before I try them. I have heard many good things about them!
