My first (real) Mother's Day
Whilst I have felt for years that I was a Mother already, and I always counted my lost babies as my babies, and felt that made me a Mum already, this year I have a living, breathing, drooling baby which enables me to have my very first Real Mother's Day!
I was woken at 8am by my brother who decided if Alex was too young to wake me early on Mother's day then it was his duty to help him out. Happy mother's day!
Hubbs, never one to be prepared rushed out in the middle of the night to go to 24 hour kmart to get me a mother's day card and pressie. I got two lovely cards (one from him), a pot plant (as I have killed most of my indoor plants since alex was born), a huge cup with "one gifted mum" on it, filled with marshmallows, hot choc mix and biscuits, and a nice box of chocolates.
I then decided to go shopping, and whilst out Alex got a balloon, which he was pretty excited about:
On the spur of the moment I decided to get some flowers and take them to my Mum. I am ashamed to admit that I had been meaning for some time to take Alex to meet my parents but just kept delaying it. So it was a good push. Plus the cemetary is about 5 mins drive from the shops, so it was just the push i needed. Springvale cemetary, if you have never been is huge! It is like a city and has just as many streets. I thought i would never find my parents, especially since I went in a different entrance to where I normally enter. Everything had changed so much since I went last. But a very strange thing happened. I was driving down one of the streets and suddenly i felt compelled to pull over. I thought "it is right here". So i stopped the car, got Alex out, the flowers and a rug and walked over the lawn right to my parents. I didn't even have to look around - it was right in front of me. And it isn't near a road or anything, so that was pretty amazing.I put the rug down and Alex and I sat there and chatted to my parents. I cleaned their plaque, put the flowers into the vase, and told them about Alex.
I told them how it felt wrong to be introducing them because I have felt like they have been with him all the time anyway, like they sent him to me and have stayed with him protecting him since.
Alex was an angel - he sat there while I babbled. He let me cuddle him and cry. He then turned and gave me the biggest smile - what a sweetie. I was so proud of him.
I took some pictures of him with my parents.

When I got home I emailed Hubbs the pictures. Tonight he came home and we went to visit his mum in the hospital. She is a little better in some ways but worse in others. They are still discussing what treatment to give her.On the way home Hubbs said to me "you know, I am really proud of you going to see your parents today. I know how hard it is for you to go there - how much it upsets you. But I want Alex to know them as much as we can tell him and to go visit them too. I am very proud of you" Which is very sweet of him.
So a very happy Mother's day to you all - whether you are already a mum, a mum to be (Jobie!) or a Mum in your own heart.
I will finish with a family shot for you:
