still alive - barely

Hi everyone,

I haven't posted in a while and there are lots of reasons for that. I guess the biggest reason is that i haven't really felt like "sharing". Life is full of twists and turns and not all of them are pleasant scenic spots that you want to send postcards from. Lately our "laneways of life" are littered with broken glass and i just can't cope with facing all my demons just yet.

Plus i have been sick, plus Alex has been sick, plus nobody ever reads this anymore anyway, .... blah blah blah.

Lots of excuses, bah humbug.

Just be assured that essentially all is okay. Alex and i have had a virus - a lovely nasty one that has flu like symptoms along with ear and eye infections. Alex recovered quickly. I am still struggling three weeks later with limited hearing and eyes that are still sore. it sucks. it could be worse. i will get over it.

On the 31st August at my mother in law's 64th birthday party, Alex stood up and walked to his Nana. Talk about showboating. Nana of course was thrilled.

Every day since his confidence in walking has grown and now he prefers to walk than to do anything else. He can take 40 steps in a row, all on his own now and is almost to running stage. Of course, getting him to stay in his pram now is hopeless. We walk , at toddler pace, through the shopping centres and supermarkets. oh well. It is beautiful to see him walking. And of course, to see him so happy and proud of himself.

Videos of Alex are up on YouTube for your viewing pleasure - including a few of him walking. The can be seen here. Enjoy

And of course some photos:

Alex with his daddy at the shop (oh how he loves his Daddy - luckily the feeling is mutual) :

Alex laughing with his mummy - I like to call this shot : "Take your top off mum - might attack more customers!":

and finally one of me with my little man.

I'm very proud of you darling! I have a toddler!

Toddler alert - Toddler Alert!
