No news doesn't necessarily mean good news

After getting a missed call on my mobile, and being fearful it was the clinic trying to contact me, I rang the clinic again and they said the results are still not back. I got the lecture again about how it can take 4-6 weeks to culture etc etc   Then she said "I wouldn't call us again this week, perhaps try again late next week".  What the? Am I the only one who doesn't think it is trivial? Why call back then? Why don't I wait a couple of years and then send them a postcard to ask from my retirement village?
 
Am i ever going to find out what we are dealing with?
